How We Manage Your Pet’s Safety Before, During, and After Their Surgical Procedure

How We Manage Your Pet’s Safety Before, During, and After Their Surgical Procedure

Here are a few things to expect on the day of your pet’s surgery:

  • Check-In and Pre-Surgical Exam

We will have you bring in your pet between 8AM and 9AM for their surgery check-in. A licensed veterinary technician will be your pet’s dedicated caregiver at every stage of their surgery. We will perform a pre-surgical examination, blood screening, and electrocardiogram (ECG) to ensure your pet’s safety prior to being put under anesthesia. Our team will also administer a light sedative beforehand to help your pet relax.

  • During Surgery

While your pet is in surgery, they will be given the highest quality, human-grade anesthesia. We will monitor their heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and blood oxygen levels throughout their procedure. To keep your pet’s core temperature stable and to expedite their recovery, we’ll administer IV fluids and pain relief medications during this time as well.

  • After Surgery

A licensed veterinary technician will provide your pet with a warm blanket and monitor them after surgery to make sure they awaken safely and comfortably from the anesthesia. Your pet’s doctor will contact you with updates about your pet’s condition and schedule a discharge time. At discharge, you will be given detailed post-op care instructions, which we’ll discuss before you leave so you know what to do. We may also send you home with pain medications and/or antibiotics to aid your pet’s recovery.

Our goal is to make surgery a smooth, stress-free process for pets and their families. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, contact us today!
